Somoe I. Nguhwe is an Accountant in the Power Utility Company (TANESCO LTD). She joined TANESCO in 1981. Currently she serves as a Principal Accountant dealing with Payroll whose main activity is to ensure that salary and other employees’ emoluments are smoothly and timely run.

She chairs TANESCO Savings and Credit Cooperative Society’s Board of Directors since 2012. Before becoming the Board chair of TANESCO SACCOS, she served as the society’s treasurer for nine years.

She is the Board member and vice chair of the National Association of Savings & Credit Cooperatives in Tanzania (SCCULT (1992) LTD).

At the Continental level, Somoe serves on the Board of African Confederation of Savings and Credit Associations (ACCOSCA), where she is also a Vice chair.

Prior to her election to the ACCOSCA Board, she served as an Associate member delegate to the ACCOSCA General Assembly.

Somoe graduated at Moshi Cooperative College (Now Moshi Cooperative University-MoCU) in 1996 where she obtained an Advanced Diploma in Cooperative Accounting (ADCA). Currently she is pursuing a Post Graduate Diploma in SACCOS Management course (PGD – SACCOS) Distance learning. She expects to complete her course in 2020.

Somoe has been active in the SACCOS Movement since her engagement in TANESCO in 1981 where she joined TANESCO SACCOS as a member and at the same time an employee of the society.

She uses her experience in Cooperative Movement earned over the past 35 years to ensure that there is significant change/growth of SACCOS in the country.

She has a passion for serving the community and enjoys reading, travelling and having fun with the family.
